Iridescence reflects many colours prismatically, shifting based on the angle of perspective and the amount of light or darkness in a space.

There are 3 colour gradients embodied within the scope and content of Iridescent. Together these gradients capture the full colour spectrum found within Iridescence.

Each gradient shares a unique set of experiences and emotions, expressed differently both lyrically and sonically. Amber, the first gradient, expresses sentiments of healing and joy. The second gradient Teal, speaks to relationships and betrayal. And the final gradient Mauve, shares experiences inside of chronic mental illness.

In over 15 years of therapeutic treatment, I’ve learnt a lot about the different characteristics, habits, feelings and experiences that I hold. While contributing to my struggle with mental health, many of these parts are also enmeshed with my greatest gifts and my most authentic self. Integrating and accepting all parts of me, including my life long chronic mental illness and suicidal ideations, has been key in my journey.

Depression and suicidal ideations are the brain's way of trying to protect a sufferer from tremendous pain - by creating numbness and detachment from life, a promise of relief. I find it very polarizing and tragically beautiful that an idea born out of a mind's attempt to help itself - a theory rooted in protection - comes disaster.

Like creative brilliance paired with crippling anxiety, profound connection followed by a devastating loss, or empathy so overwhelming it leads to immobilization, 'Iridescent’ is about this constant shifting of many colours, symbolizing these dichotomies in self and the world.
